FROM $149.00 WITHOUT CHILDREN • FROM $199.00 WITH CHILDREN

Divorce is never easy, even when the parties agree on the terms.

The cost of divorce makes it even more difficult.  This service/your savings:  My name is Allison Shelley, and I am an attorney licensed in Alabama.  This is a document-drafting service whereby I can draft your uncontested divorce papers at an affordable price, and I will answer your questions throughout this process.  When your documents are complete and ready to be filed, your legal representation is concluded -- you file your divorce package yourself at the courthouse. By filing your own documents and limiting your representation, you save on fees associated with divorce without giving up legal advice or having to write your own divorce papers.

HOW IT WORKS:

This is not a draft-your-own-documents site.  You will not be left  to figure out the legal process on your own.  Your divorce papers will be drafted for you by me.  Your documents will be emailed to you as soon as they are finished, usually within 2 business days of your submitting all the necessary information.  Once your papers are done, you and your spouse may want to change some things, and that's okay.  I will make as many changes as necessary so that your paperwork reflects what you both agree to.  When all the changes are made and your documents show your agreement, you both sign where indicated.  Your legal representation concludes at this point.  You then file your divorce documents yourself at the courthouse (I will give you the address of the courthouse in your county, as well as the amount of the filing fee you will need to pay to the clerk.  If minor children are involved, I will also inform you  about the requirement and availability of parenting classes).

Please note that you are responsible for filing your divorce papers at the courthouse.  If there are any additional documents required by the Court that are not in your package, or if the Court requires any changes, I will provide those at no additional charge as part of this service.

It’s that simple. By limiting your representation and filing your documents yourself, you save on the fees associated with an uncontested divorce.

I can draft uncontested divorce documents for any county within the State of Alabama.

The fees stated above include only the documents necessary for filing an uncontested Alabama divorce. Other documents that may be needed to effectuate your agreement with your spouse (for example, a quitclaim deed), are not included in this fee, but can be provided at an additional charge.

GETTING STARTED:

    1.     Call (877) 251-3309 toll-free for a free consultation. If an uncontested divorce is appropriate for your situation,* you simply provide all the necessary information for your documents to be drafted.

    2.     You will need to sign an agreement limiting the scope of counsel's representation to legal consultation and to drafting your divorce documents.  If a hearing is required, counsel will not appear in court for either party.

    3.     Once this is done, I will draft your divorce papers.  I will notify you when your documents are ready for review (usually within 2 business days of receiving the above).  I will email your invoice to you.

    4.     You may pay by debit card, credit card or PayPal.  Complex matters may require a higher fee.  If this is the case, I tell you that before I draft your documents so you can then decide whether you want to proceed.

    5.     Once I receive payment, your documents will be emailed to you.

    6.     You will need to review your documents and notify me if changes need to be made. You can make as many changes as you need to before you file your divorce papers.

    7.      I will provide you with the address of the courthouse in your county of residence and the amount of the filing fee that you will need to pay the Clerk when file your documents. If minor children are involved, I will also give you information about the availability and requirements for parenting classes.

*In order to file an uncontested divorce, you both have to agree to be divorced, reach an agreement on all issues, agree that the attorney only represents one party to the divorce, and voluntarily sign all papers without the need for service on any party.  I only handle uncontested divorces.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE FILING FEE YOU MUST PAY TO THE CLERK OF COURT WHEN YOU FILE YOUR DIVORCE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS FEE FOR THE DRAFTING OF YOUR DIVORCE DOCUMENTS. THE FILING FEE VARIES BY COUNTY, AND IT MUST BE PAID DIRECTLY TO THE CLERK WHEN FILING YOUR DIVORCE.  YOUR DIVORCE WILL NOT BE FILED BY THE CLERK UNTIL THIS FEE IS PAID.
